Shabby Glazed "L" & a HOW TO~

HELLO THERE~ I am going to give you all a tutorial on how I SHAB-I-FIED this letter "L" for Larsens! Now I am not sure if this is really called a glaze or not, seeing that to me it doesn't have a sheen to it at all, none the less... HERE WE GO!

YOU WILL START WITH an un-finished piece of wood. I got my Letter "L" at Roberts Crafts, I am sure Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and JoAnn's carries them too. You will need to paint the letter all white first!!! let it dry a bit!
these are the acrylic paint colors i used! They should carry most of them in your craft stores! I got mine at Roberts Crafts!
first thing you will do to make your glaze is add about a tbsp of water to a bowl, dish, container, whateves. ;)
Squirt in a small amount of the brown, and then do the same with the black!
swirl, spin, until your glaze looks close to this.... I AM NAMING THIS COLOR "MUD PUDDLE" HE! ;)
After you have PAINTED THE Letter all white thoroughly, even the bottom (i didn't paint the back, but you can if you want) then you will just dip your brush in the glaze and add streaks where you want them. You will then wipe them off with a paper towel(s). Continue that process until you get the look you are wanting. SUPER FUN, AND EASY!
to define the sides, just dip the brush in the glaze pinch the brush over your container to lose some of the glaze, and then run your brush along side of the edges. ;)
It should look something like this when you are done. Now' I realize none of us are going to get the exact same color, texture, or look, but NOW YOU ALL KNOW HOW TO GLAZE, OR give some wood a "SHABBY GLAZE LOOK"
I did add some yellow and pink polka dots with a medium sized round sponge. I got mine at again, Roberts Crafts.  As well as hot glued pink burlap to the letter, and tied green ribbon around the burlap. If you would like to see how I used and displayed my "Shabby Glazed L" head HERE

recycled baby food jar~ turned potted paper flower

Hello there~ My sister came over to my place today. She is very excited about a church calling she has teaching the little 4 year old Sunbeams in Primary. Her first lesson, she wanted to make real special and it's on "Being Thankful for plants, trees, and flowers." She wanted to do some kind of flower in her recycled baby food jars, and give them to the sweet kids. I told her to come over and we will cut out flowers and circles from my cricut and glue them to sticks, with tags and ribbon. She came over and we got busy. The flowers were from the cartridge accent essentials, and the circles and tags were from platinum schoolbook! All you will do once everything is cut, is glue them together, as well as tie the tags to the colored sticks.
me and the sis have a blast crafting with eachother. We worked well together putting this craft together, and we sure have fun doing it.
supplies you will need: small styrofoam balls, baby food jars, green shredded paper, scrappaper
(cardstock) in your choice, glue stick, green crayon, ribbon, craft sticks, and a black pen.
We colored the sticks with green crayon on both sides. You can paint them with acrylic paint if you want. We were saving time!
its easiest if you take the shredded paper and wrap it around the styrofoam, almost like making a nest around it. Then you will push it down into the jar, and cover the top. Then you will stab the stick flower down in the styrofoam.
hot glue the colored stick(s) under the flowers, you want to carefully pinch the paper to the stick for a second or two.
AND HERE THEY ARE all FINISHED!!!
Love the polkadots and colors, both sis and I were tickled and giggly and girly and annoying about them. HA!
pretty maids in a row!
I put them in a basket for my sis, to make it easier for her to carry them.
Here we are with our finished project!
Today I am linking up with Somewhat Simple for Strut Your Stuff Thursday HERE! as well as Weekend Wrap Up Party at tatortots & jello HERE

Handmade Baby Shower Banner/Mobile

Yesterday while two of the kids were sleeping and the oldest was at school, I decided to make the baby shower banner for the baby shower I will be throwing in April. I thought of this idea, once my friend Amy let me barrow her Doodle Charms cartridge for my cricut. Thanks Amy!!! The banner is made in such light pastel colors its hard to really see it. Maybe you can click on the pic. to enlarge it. To attach the die cut images to the ribbon, I used glue dots! IT WAS SO FUN, AND SWEET TO MAKE!
to add rosey posey sweet cheeks, I used a pink ink and the round sponge applicator. Then for the eyes, as you see, the blue colored pencil.
I cut out an "S" and an "E" for the baby girls first and last name intials. I added a pacy to the baby face too!
Then I thought that the baby needed her bottle! ;)
I will be hanging it from my dinning room light fixture. Over the table that will be decked out in pinks, yellows, whites, and probably light green.  I even cut out small 1 1/2 inch bottles, ducky's, teddy bears, and bows for confetti... to spread around the table. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Create your own ~Gift bag tag~

I am sure lots of you out there know a thing or two about card making and/or tags. Today, I am just sharing with you a gift bag tag I made for a birthday party my daughter was invited to. The gift bag didn't have a card with it, so I used what I had to make one. I started with a lined card/tag, along with a circle flower die cut. I simply stapled the circle flwr die cut to the lined card/tag w/ some polka dot ribbon under neath. Then I added the plastic rhinestone flwr w/ a glue dot. I pulled out my happy birthday stamps (ordered from qvc 4 years ago) and ink pad and just stamped some of the cute sayings down the tag.  That was it! I love to make tags, and/or cards for birthdays. Its more special TOO! ;)
here it is attached to the bag, with a glue dot. You can use tape too!

Gift bag turned cute matted frame~

See this darling cute gift bag, my hunny had my Valentines in it. As much as I loved my Valentines (hubs included), I was very much in love with the gift bag. I new it was going to be used for some kind of makeover/diy/craft project... SHALL WE BEGIN...
Boring white matted frame meet your makeup ha! meet cute cut up paper bag. I used the velvet fuzzy side of the bag.
use the matting to trace out the new mat cover with your new paper/gift bag/cardstock, whatever you decide to use. Then cut it out.
the front of the gift bag is nice, its in that fuzz velvet texture, so it really made the picture seem so fancy and to me more expensive looking.
Then I just used a glue stick, and thoroughly covered the back of the design paper and placed it over the mat. I gave it a good rub and made sure it was all sealed down well. 3 min. project complete!
and finally all finished and put back together!
and lastly back in its rightful spot!
On this craft, diy project I am linking up with TatorTots and Jello for her Weekend Wrap up Party HERE! as well as FUNKY JUNK Interiors HERE!

also MY craft blog is still fairly new, I would love for you TO FOLLOW ME! really really love!!!

Butterfly Canvas Art

I purchased these two small canvases a week or two ago, for a couple bucks. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, and then was inspired by Bella's (my daughters) room. I thought butterflys would look cute on them.
painted the canvases an aqua kinda teal blue. Then sponged over the blue with pink!
I used my cricut and cut out a butterfly, that I used as a template for stenciling!
Here is the butterfly after stenciled!
Here they are hung on her peg board hooks. (DON'T really have a name for this wood piece)
Final complete shot!
to view pictures of my daughters room... you can click on LarsenLoves button. On LarsenLoves scroll down, and on the left side is a button that reads.... "Bella's room" you can view her room there! Thanks for stopping by!
