I love the -USA- board

Its SUMMER~ and soon fireworks will be lighting our sky's before we know it. Here is a patriotic sign I made today. I am enjoying my Memorial day with  my family relaxing. Soon we will get in the pool, and then bbq. Happy Memorial DAY! Check my post below, I have a yummy patriotic "All American Trifle" DISH!
~BEFORE~ A board I have had forever, and although I like it, I just was ready for something new.
~AFTER~
I used 12x14 scrap paper. I just cut it down to the size I wanted for the center. This isn't the size I used, I am just showing the paper.
I painted the board just on the outer edges~ top bottom and sides. The acrylic paint color is called "Bleached Sand" it matched the polka dots perfectly. You don't really need to tape off the board, I realized quickly that I didn't need to, OH' WELL. Your paper goes in the center.
to add more texture to the USA board I added burlap that I cut out. I just cut off pieces from the corners of the burlap, and used my first cut piece as a guide for the other three.
I mod podged the burlap to the corners. Mod podge under and over the burlap.
Then I used the Lyrical letters cartridge to cut out the letters. I took the same acrylic "bleached sand" paint and lightly added it to the edges of the paper letters. To apply it, I used a small round sponge. Then you mod podge the letters on.
side shot.
and it sits on top of my hutch!
fuller shot with it on my hutch.

Memorial Day Dessert~ all American trifle

Here is a dessert I made last 4th of July~ its great for this holiday weekend too.

~two containers of strawberries,
~two containers of blueberries (use the amount to your liking)
~one regular size container of cool whip,
~and one pound cake (to your liking, some people have their favorite pound cakes)
~one box regular size of vanilla pudding.
Prep: Mix pudding as directed on box! rinse and cut your strawberries in half! and cut (cube) your pound cake.
Start by layering with cut up pound cake on the bottom. Then your fruit, vanilla pudding, Layer it again leaving just the coolwhip on the top. I doubled this recipe off of (Kraftfoods.com/all American trifle) and I am so glad I did. I liked more berries for sure! Enjoy!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY~ enjoy your holiday weekend and be safe!

hanging Burlap "EAT" sign

Hello there~ this is what I worked on this afternoon~
"MY HANGING BURLAP "EAT" sign"
I went thrifting and found a cute black rod iron pole "THINGY" and "3" black frames each item was one dollar. This entire project cost me $4.00 dollars. I already had the burlap and vinyl at home. Let me take you on a step by step tutorial of my fun hanging sign.
You will need "3" frames mine hold a 4x6 pic. to give you and idea, burlap, vinyl, scissors, sand paper, a rod iron pole such as a curtain pole, and a glue gun.
I pulled out the frame backing and used it as my guide to cut the burlap. Once all three pieces were cut I cleaned my glass front and back and just laid the burlap on top of the backing and closed it up. No gluing needed, unless you want to.
this is them all sanded! there is no real rule to sanding. One piece of sanding paper, and you gently go over all sides, and corners (if you like.)
THEY will look like this when you are done with the burlap, sanding, and vinyl. I used the Lyrical letters cartridge for my cricut, and the vinyl letters did go on top of the glass.
I took my burlap and cut long strips to use on the back of the frames to hang them. I measured out three exact matching pieces.
then you will hot glue the strips of burlap to the back of the frames. I used the end of a paint brush to push the burlap down. NO BURNT FINGERS HERE! ;)
THEN I tied the burlap in a knot around the rod iron pole.
then I HUNG IT UP. PIC. natural LIGHT!
PIC. BRIGHT w/ flash on.
and of COURSE its hung on the wall near our kitchen table where we LOVE TO "EAT" ;)

Balloon Flip Flops

THIS idea has been around for some time, and I just love it. HERE are THE ONES i MADE for my MISS PRISS!

i USED water balloons and of course flip flops. I selected the color scheme I wanted, and then laid out the pattern. I took {34} balloons for EACH flip flop. All you do is tie them on. I place the balloons under the flip flop strap and then tie two knots. THAT IS IT! My pointer fingers hurt now too. ;)
before~
after~ THEY ARE SO MUCH cuter after. I love that it will match just about anything girlie. For 4TH of July I am totally making THESE in RED WHITE AND BLUE! for my little Miss Priss, can't wait!
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.. happy FLIP FLOP MAKING AND PEDICURE PAINTING! winks- jen

Burlap Initial Plaque

HERE IS My Burlap Initial Plaque~

I went thrifting this past Thurs. and found this WOOD plaque.. for $1.50.. its real heavy duty nice un-finished wood. The letter "L" I bought un-finished at a craft store earlier this year. I made it for spring, but now that my spring stuff is put away... it didn't go with anything. So I created something else with it.....
I took the letter "L" and layed it down on the back of my damask paper, then I traced the letter, cut out the letter, and mod podged the paper onto the letter.
I cut out a semi messy square piece of burlap. I then layed it inside the plaque, held it tight to the sides and gently traced the outline of the plaque with a pencil.
Once I traced the burlap I cut it out, and mod podged the burlap on. However, I did paint my plaque/wood first. Then I mod podge the burlap on. I did a coat of modpodge underneath the burlap and one over the burlap.
after I painted the plaque "Wicker White" acrylic paint, I then did a shabby glaze. Its just brown and black acrylic paint mixed with some water. You wipe it on the wood with a paper towel and then wipe some off. LOVE the shabby aged look.
I dug out my stash of buttons, and played around with them until I liked the color choices, grouping, and the size of the buttons. Then I just used my glue gun and hot glued them on.
I tied a small strip around the top of the L, and hot glued a small white button to the center.
VIOLA~ I HEART IT! ;)
AND IT sits on my entry table to greet guests..... I HAVE to say this is my most fav. thing I have made, and I am so delighted with it. SQUEAL!!!
