Cookie Sheet Advent - your kids will LOVE!

NOW ALTHOUGH I have been racking my mind with a thousand different versions of ADVENTS to make... as well as wanting to come up with a more classic clean HOME DECOR type Advent.... I was thrilled when I found my Advent calender I made last year stashed in my closet with the goodies all in a shoe box. Yeah, now with the busy holiday I won't fuss with making one this year! ;)

THIS ONE IS SURE TO PUT A SMILE ON THE KIDDOS FACES.... Its fun and whimsical. My little girl came out of her room and saw it on the counter and stopped and stared and stared and stared...... then asked to have some of the games. soon I told her ;)

HOW TO:
I used the back of a cookie sheet.
I painted it with red barn acrylic paint and let dry.
I cut scrap paper to size and mod podged it on.
I let the mod podge dry.
I then traced lines with a ruler and a black sharpie marker.
I added the numbers.
Then with $ dollar goodies I one by one hot glued magnets to the backs of the goodies and let dry.

I figured out a placement for the goodies and then numbered them on the backs to know what spot they would magnetize too.

ON CHRISTMAS DAY.... they get to open a box, with some goodies in it. I am going to add some chocolate in there too.
AND A PHOTO OF THE KIDDOS TO GO IN THE ORNAMENT AND HANG ON THE TREE!

Festive Holiday Cake Dome w/ vinyl

Get a little Holiday.... with your glass jars.... I was looking at my Cake/Punch Dome/Bowl and I had the idea of adding some festive scroll to it. It will work great too when Christmas is gone, because the red is a deep red and matches my colors.  However, its a simple peel, if I decide I don't want to keep it.

I used the Home Decor Cricut Cartridge for the design. I placed one in the front and one in the back. Fit to Length.
BEFORE
 AFTER
WITH my Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Fudge. I will be sharing this recipe soon. tbc...
and to finish the look I added a wood candy cane to the knob.
but who cares about vinyl details... COUGH COUGH... excuse me while I go kick up  my feet on the couch... with a treat.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!

Baked Christmas Ornaments

HI GUYS- hope your Thanksgiving was yummy and wonderful. MINE SURE WAS, I PIGGED OUT. Now that Turkey day is out of the way, I am finishing up some holiday decorating. Like my front door. The hubs will soon be putting up the lights outside. Today I wanted to do something special with my kids. So I decided to make Baked Christmas Ornaments. I JUST LOVE HOW THEY TURNED OUT. Best part is the memories. My older son said after we decorated them... "This is the best day in November Yet!" totally made the day even better... LOVED IT!
 CUTTING OUT THE SHAPES!
ROLLING OUT MORE DOUGH! with some hot cocoa and marshmallows of course.
we used glitter glue and applied the glitter glue to the ornaments with our fingers. Keep a damp paper towel with ya.
 TA-DA ALL DONE!

I hung some on my garland around my front door. I am so in love! the others went on my Christmas tree.
The wreath you see I made last year. My mom made the bow for me.
 Welcome to The Larsens Home!
Directions/ Ingredients for the ornaments!

Mix together 2 cups of Flour, 1 cup of salt, 2 tbsp. Vegetable Oil. Then slowly add 3/4-1 cup of water and stir until you get a nice clay.

Add a little flour as you knead the dough. You want it sticky but not to sticky.

Flour your surface and rolling pin. Roll out dough to about 3/4 of an inch, you don't want it to thick it will crack while baking. Cut out shapes and place on un-greased cookie sheet. Use a kabob skewer (that is what I used) or a tooth pick to create wholes in the ornaments.

Bake at 250 for 1 hr. 40  min. Let cool.

THEN thread ribbon of your choice through the wholes and decorate. My kids and I decorated ours with Glitter Glue in Red, Gold, and White. Simple but lovely.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY!

Do you have a STORE love?

Thanks to American Express for sponsoring my writing today about small businesses.  American Express is presenting Small Business Saturday, a way to honor the local merchants who are the backbone of the economy, this Saturday, November 27.  They're offering statement credits to people who shop at small businesses, advertising for small-business owners, and donations to Girls Inc. for "Likes" of the Small Business Saturday page on Facebook.  Join the celebration by clicking the Facebook link and selecting the "Like" button. You can also learn more about the program and read the terms and conditions that apply.

Is there a local small business you LOVE in your town, or around the bend?
Well I have one, truly I have two- Mercantile Antiques I love too. However, my real love is Ugly Trailer Antiques. You see when I crave an hour or two of alone time I grab my diet coke and head down into my local sweet little town of Hurricane UT. to the Ugly Trailer Antiques. I browse and browse and DROOL and browse and I am in love. I have bought some great things; a cute large shutter, a red hutch, antique clothes pins, a vintage scale, door window picture frame, a bench seat, and some smaller items at the Ugly Trailer. This Building used to be a jail long before I was born. So its really big- MORE TO LOOK AT AND MORE to love! There is something at the Ugly Trailer for everyone. If you are looking for that special old collectible; Aqua Ball Jars, books, purses, lamps, furniture, jewelry, collectibles, its all there. I love supporting my local town and businesses and by doing so I visit Ugly Trailer and its always a pleasant visit. HERE ARE JUST SOME OF the Things I found there...

Vintage Scale!
8x10 Picture Frame DOOR- DIY Project!
  My Red Hutch-
and this is WHAT UGLY Trailer Antiques looks like! DO YOU SEE THAT "UGLY" TRAILER? ;)
