Valentine ADVENT Tree

I made this VALENTINE ADVENT Tree for my kids yesterday. There are "14" heart boxes on the tree tied with ribbon. At the end of Jan. I will fill them each with 3 different v-day treats and some with sweet love notes to my kiddos. They all will get to count down the "14" days until love day by removing a box off the tree and seeing whats inside for each of them.  Believe it or not my 9 year old sons two favorite holiday's are Christmas and Valentines. I asked him why V-day? he said "because everyone is in love and you get alot of Valentines!" LOVE THAT BOY! for now the tree sits pretty on my table.

P.S. I think I may be over doing it here on CraftOManiac with the V-DAY Crafts I won't show any until mid-next week... HA!
So I got the little heart "favor" boxes in the wedding section at Roberts Crafts. So I had this idea last year, but never got around to it, so I have been super anxious to do it this year. The favor boxes come with 24 for $9.99 and then I used my 40% off coupon. I grabbed one extra roll of ribbon and the rest of the stuff I had at home. The tree is some old branches I tore off of an old dead tree in the desert. RECYCLE! HA!
and here are the boxes made with tied ribbon. I am adding this new teal like blue to my decor this year, and I am loving it.
even though the tree looked cute with the treat boxes, it needed more. So I cut out different size hearts from my Cricut using the "Platinum Schoolbook" cartridge. I hammered holes in each one to thread ribbon through to tie in knots and hang on the tree.
LIKE SO!
THEN I spaced out the hanging goodies and placed them and re-moved and re-placed them and had fun decorating it!
I wanted you all to see it next to my Heart Topiary's. I still think I will put the Topiary's on my entry table. I need to break up the blue throughout the house.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY. You all keep warm, we got snow and that is unusual where I am at. XO

Valentine-Candy Cup Cake Heart Wreath

I made this Candy Cup Cake Heart Wreath today.
Supplies along with hot glue gun and ribbon.
HOW TO: First thing I did was cut out an 81/2 inch paper heart from my cricut. I held the paper heart in place over a thick long piece of styrofoam and with a steak knife carefully cut out the styrofoam heart.

Next I took mini cupcake liners and pierced a toothpick through the bottom.
and because I didn't want the tooth pick coming out the other side of the foam wreath I had to stack two cinnamon hearts. Both I pushed onto the toothpick.
I then placed the candy cupcakes where I wanted them and slightly pushed them into the foam. To not stab myself and to get them flush with the foam, I used something flat to finish pushing them in. As you can see I used the flat side of a pizza cutter. It worked great.
You will continually do this part until your foam heart is full. If you want to just do the hearts, I would suggest painting the foam or covering it with paper or something first.
Next I hot glued two strips of grosgrain ribbon all the way around the foam wreath. You can also do a much thicker ribbon if you choose, I used what I had.
The ribbon will look like this when all finished.
At the top center of the heart I brought the remaining ribbon together and tied a knot. As well as added two more colors of ribbon.
Like this.
UP CLOSE! I am sure there is something out there you can shalack it with, but like my Halloween trick or treat wreath, I just covered it in three bags when storing it away, and tied a knot real tight to seal it shut. I also placed the trick or treat wreath in my home in a closet on a high shelf. I will do the same with this wreath.

I am going to be honest I DON'T LOVE THIS craft project, I don't hate it either. Its just kinda EH! but please don't tell me if you don't like it! WINKS! THANKS FOR STOPPING BY- HAPPY CRAFTING!

Valentine Heart Topiary's

Visit thecsiproject.com
I worked on these Heart Topiary's last night until almost midnight. My game plan for these went a totally different direction. So the other stuff I have will be for another craft project. However, I am pleased with the final outcome. ;)
HOW TO: To make these lovely heart Topiary's I started with some fabric I picked up at walmart. I cut out a 81/2 inch heart from my cricut using a nice cardstock. The Cricut Cartridge  I used was the "Platinum Schoolbook."
I then used the paper heart as a stencil to cut out the fabric. I didn't follow to close to the paper heart, because I new I would be stuffing them. So you are more using the paper heart as a guide. When you are done cutting, both will look like this.
Next you will start stapling around the fabric and to the paper.
Then you will stuff the heart with shredded paper, or tissue paper, or cotton, whatever you choose. I used some scissors carefully to push the stuffing toward the sides and bottom. NOTE- don't staple a small hole you want a decent size hole to stuff. When finished stuffing staple the hole closed.
It will look like this when you are all done.
TA-DA both stuffed and ready for more foofing. You could easily stop here and just make some to place here and there on a mantel or table with more V-DAY decor. ;)
I used a "Ink It Up" light pink ink to rub up and down the dowel to paint them.
I sliced two slits one in the back of each paper heart to stick the dowels in.
Stick your dowel in the cut hole and add some hot glue to the bottom tip of the heart to keep nice and firm.
I used a thin satin blue aqua ribbon to lace through two white plastic heart buttons. To act as another layer and embellishment to the center of the hearts......
as well as cute red polka dot ribbon.
I used a small square chunk of styrofoam to hold the dowel in place, along with shredded white paper.
What is more Valentines then "HOT" tamales as a vase filler and fun layer.
and here it is with the ribbon embellishments and the jar stuffed with styrofoam, shredded paper, and hot tamales.
~ALL DONE~ NOTE- the backs of these will be facing a wall, once I get my entry table all decked out for V-day. So no one will see the ugly paper, staples, & glued backs HA!

If you make them or some like them email me, I would love to see your version, and share them. Thanks so much for stopping by.  HAPPY CRAFTING!
