Home Decor- Entry Way Storage & Organization

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Apartments.com for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Today I have revamped a thrifted bench and have created a space that is perfect for any small space in your home especially like an apartment. The best thing to do in small spaces is to make it as functional and organized as you can… and making it cute too, is a huge bonus. Two of the things I did was use a mirror with hooks. The mirror is great for fixing anything you need fixed before heading out the door. Its also great for hanging up your hats, bags, scarves, jackets, keys, backpack, etc. when you come home. So its functional but cute too.

I dressed up my mirror with a cute pennant. I simply cut the pennant to the size I wanted and then hot glued some pom pom fringe along the top. I also added some more ribbons to both ends. I hung the pennant over my mirror to give it some color and to make it pop. I also painted some old thrifted frames, added burlap to the insides and hot glued some burlap to the back and made the signs dry erasable. This is great for messages for your loved one, your kids, etc. I also took a simple chalk board added distressed ink to it and hot glued some ribbon to the back as well. The chalk board also adds a fun element for messages and such.

Next I thrifted a cute black bench at a favorite local antique consignment shop in my town. I have wanted a cute “storage” bench for some time. My mom was actually the one who spotted the cute bench. She totally insisted that it was a need… and I conquered- HA! I new the bench would get a face lift, and that is just what I did. I took some white RustO’leum paint “two cans”, and spray painted  the whole bench. Then I took my electric sander and roughed it up a bit created a worn chippy look. I new the bench would be perfect under my mirror with hooks, and would also act as a great source of storage and organization. I love it! The bench is pretty deep and could hold a lot of shoes or even jackets  bags, etc. Both the mirror and storage bench would work so perfectly in a small space, giving you that cute look and storage. WIN-WIN

The bench I scored for under $50.00 bucks, so I bought some spray paint to give it the look I wanted. The other stuff I had as well as the fabric and such. If you can find stuff for your small spaces such as a peg board, mirrors with hooks, benches with storage, ottomans with storage etc. then you can create a cute and useful space.

I will share a few before and afters with ya!

I also made a long chevron pillow to go on the bench. I embellished it with some cute flowers too. The fabric is from Online fabric.

I hope you all like it, and I really hope if gives you all some inspiration for your small spaces. Check out Renter Resources for apartment friendly DIY projects, decoration, entertaining, living on a budge, food, and recipes. Lots of great info. Also, don’t forget there are many different storage options for your home. For larger storage options I would consider looking into Residential Steel Buildings. These storage buildings allow the best flexibility financially and are very convenient.”
