CHARLIE CHARLIE is Not a Charming Game!

Disclosure: These are all my thoughts and opinons, as we are all entitled to our own. wink.

Hello everyone, today is not a colorful, happy, creative, diy, decor or recipe post. Its in fact nothing that I would normally talk about here on COM, as I always want COM to be filled with inspiration. That said, Charlie Charlie is Not a Charming Game and its something I feel I need to discuss for those parents/guardians out there that maybe unaware of this new social media, internet craze with young kids and teens. So as I mentioned, this is not a creative post, but I am a mom and that is my most important job, even before my blog and before any kind of social media that I do. My kids are my number one.

To begin, yesterday I was in my room laying on my bed trying to get a power nap in, when my oldest son (13) came into my room and around my side of the bed. He said “Mom there is this new game I just learned about and I want to do it, its called Charlie Charlie” I instantly got a furrowed brow, and said “Tell me more about it? what is it?” He began to explain the details of the game the two pencils, the paper and the Yes! and No! and how you call out Charlie Charlie.. etc. (fill free to Google it and read more). I immediatly stopped him in his tracks, and told him No! absolutly not! You will not play that game, and it sounds like Bloody Mary, which for me is asking or playing with evil. He said that “SSundee” this popular Mine Crafter YouTube guy was doing it, and it was so funny etc. (apparantly it seemed like innocent fun to him via SSundee) I still told him NO! not gonna happen, and squashed the idea pronto.

Well today, my sister called me and said you know that Charlie Charlie game you were telling me about? well Scott (her husband) was watching one of those religious chanels just for the heck of it (he doesn’t normally do so) and the Pastor (I believe) brought up the game and was wanting every parent to be informed and warned about it, and that a stop to it needs to happen. As mentioned above it has taken off on social media and has gotten over 1.6 million re-tweet shares. Basically from more research that I did, it may or may not be an Urban Legend (but frankly I don’t care, those kinds of games to me are evil and I want any of that crap in my home). So basically your inviting aka summoning an evil demonic mexican man (or I read it may be a little boy that killed himself), and you ask him some questions and the pencil that sits on top of the other pencil on the paper is supposed to roll to the Yes or No answers when you ask what Charlie Charlie thinks? (no blowing on the pencil or anything just questions). Now I don’t care if they say pencils will automtically roll, or that it can move from gravity, breathing, sneezing whatever… its a mexican oujia board, shiver!!! I would never touch one of those, Gasp! From what I read online it was created many many years ago in Mexico and as I mentioned their rendetion of a poor mans ouijia board.

So after doing more research, I texted my sister back and told her what I read. She replied with “Holy Crap!” the devil is clever, he loves to hide himself in every way possible. She continued by texting that the devil is trying to deceive kids into making them think that they are playing some harmless game, when in fact they are not. I totally agreed with her, and followed with Yes!’ and that satan is seeing just how powerful and resourceful social media/and the interent is, and that he is using it in his power as well. I also texted to her how we’ve both been taught in our church, that we are able to do missionary work via social media and the internet. So why wouldn’t satan do the same, and prey on vulnerable, innocent kids/teens to do or participate in his evil work.

Now’ as mentioned at the top of my post, these are my opinons and thoughts, and some may think this is all innocent fun and I am the big weirdo here etc. but I don’t think so, you don’t tempt and mess with chantings or calling on someone urban legend or not, I think that its all satans work and its just creepy and plain evil.

I truly wanted to share this with parents/guardians out there that again, may be unaware of this new trend going on, and to talk to your children and warn them about it.

Thanks, jen-aka mom.

  1. I just thought i’d let you know that the game is a publicity stunt from a PR firm for the new hollywood horror film, the Gallows. Nothing religious about it. just good old plain marketing.

    1. I may or may not be, but at the end of the day its still a ouiji board and its still evil. I won’t even watch any of the videos people have made, I have heard to much from those who have watched videos, and were terrified and needed to pray they were so scared. Its opening pandoras box with or without a movie etc. its not cool at all to me. Jen

  2. Thanks for the heads up! I hope my kids never play those types of games. It can be like playing with fire in my opinion. I’d never heard of it, but that’s good. I can talk to my kiddos and nip it in the bud. We moms have to stick together.

  3. Thanks for sharing this, Jen. On the way home from church tonight my daughter mentioned it but I really had no idea what she was talking about. If it’s as you say, I don’t go for that stuff either and I agree 100% with that stuff being of the devil. There is so much crap out there. Going to go look it up and now and will have a chat with her in the morning. XO
